Nigeria Media Merit Awards

Digital Transformation & Institutional Knowledge Preservation
CLIENT:
Nigeria Media Merit Award (NMMA)
SECTOR:
Media · Journalism · Awards & Recognition · Institutional Development
COUNTRY:
Nigeria
SCOPE:
Digital Transformation · Website & Database Development · Knowledge Management · Data Digitisation · Creative Communications · Institutional Visibility

For more than 34 years, the Nigeria Media Merit Award (NMMA) has recognised excellence in Nigerian journalism and media practice. Yet much of this institutional legacy remained outside the digital environment, with historical records largely maintained in paper-based and fragmented formats.

Before the engagement, NMMA had no official website, online award-entry system, digital archive, searchable winners database or centralised cloud-based information repository.

Steve Alabi Interactive was engaged to transform NMMA’s institutional legacy into a modern digital ecosystem capable of preserving its history, improving accessibility, strengthening stakeholder engagement and supporting the future growth of the awards programme.

The project involved the digitisation and organisation of 1,200+ records and 78 historical documents, including information covering 34 award editions and 1,078 winners, while establishing the digital infrastructure required to manage and communicate NMMA’s continuing activities.

OUR ENGAGEMENT INCLUDED:

  • Development and implementation of a complete digital transformation strategy for NMMA, integrating technology, knowledge management, communications and institutional visibility.
  • Design and development of the official NMMA website, providing a central digital platform for the organisation’s history, activities, awards, news, gallery, stakeholders and future programmes.
  • Development of a structured and searchable winners database, transforming historically paper-based award records into a digital institutional knowledge asset.
  • Digitisation, classification and organisation of 1,200+ historical records and 78 documents, creating a structured foundation for the preservation of NMMA’s 34-year legacy.
  • Development of an online award-entry submission system to improve accessibility and create a more efficient process for future award cycles.
  • Establishment of a cloud-based digital repository and knowledge-management framework for organising NMMA’s institutional records and digital assets.
  • Development of content strategy and digital communications architecture to improve the presentation of NMMA’s history, achievements and activities.
  • Provision of creative direction and event communication assets, including event branding, social media graphics, press creatives, brochures, programmes, certificates, backdrops and digital campaign materials.
  • Development of post-event digital communication and winners showcase initiatives designed to extend the value and visibility of each annual award event beyond the ceremony itself.

STRATEGIC VALUE

The engagement transformed NMMA from an institution with a largely physical and fragmented historical archive into a digitally connected organization with the infrastructure to preserve its legacy, communicate its value and build upon it. By bringing digital transformation, knowledge management, technology and creative communications together, the project turned 34 years of media excellence into an institutional asset capable of serving NMMA’s stakeholders and future generations.
